genistein / 4',5,7-trihydroxyisoflavone
: it inhibits the binding of ATP to tyrosine-specific protein kinases,
including
b-galactosidase and
DNA
topoisomerases I and II
,with
little activity on serine- and threonine-specific protein kinases. It is
formed in the human body from precursors obtained by diet (and is expulsed
in urines), suggesting that genistein is a natural antineoplastic agent
present in diet and that it could be useful for the therapy of human
neuroblastoma
.
